LGA Independent Group
The Independent Group represents Independent and minority party councillors in England and Wales. It provides a voice at the national level and works within the LGA to ensure that the values and interests of its members are promoted.We believe in local solutions for local issues. To that end, the Independent Group promotes local government that tries to meet the needs of local communities first and foremost. We are an integral part of the Local Government Association and strive to assist the Local Government Association in meeting its wider ambitions: strengthening the capacity and performance of local government in a bid for more freedoms and flexibilities at the local level.
The Independent Group has its own office within the LGA and representation on all policy executives, task groups and appropriate outside bodies. The Independent Group Office provides support services to Independent councillors appointed to the various bodies and provides information and advice to all Independent councillors in England and Wales.
This website has recently been redesigned. Independent Group Office staff are currently working on building the website.
